I also did Marrakech with a good friend of mine and we had a blast. If you're there for more than a few days I highly recommend booking an excursion to the Sahara, it is a once in a lifetime experience to see such an environment. I believe we just booked through TripAdvisor. If I can find our tour guide I will link him, it was years ago now.
We drove all the way up the Atlas mountains, on the way there we stopped at a traditional Amazigh (the true indigenous name for "Berber") village where the major production is weaving rugs. We also stopped at Ait Benhaddou which is an amazing historic city and UNESCO World Heritage site and also a filming location for Game of Thrones. The stay overnight in the desert actually had the most comfortable beds we slept on the whole trip! Hot tip - they really push you to buy the blue scarves in Ait Benhaddou for protection in the desert, in my case I didn't and it was certainly not needed.
This is amazing - I wish Lucy and I had booked a trip to the desert. As a Game of Thrones fan, I am incredibly jealous you got to see that. I'm so glad you had a good time, and thank you for sharing more recos here. I guess she and I will just have to make our way back to Morocco. :) -Mack
